I feel like self love is made out to be like this mystical creature or some euphoric island that doesn't exist. It's full of fluffy blush pink clouds, shimmering sunsets and everybody poops glitter. But in reality self love is still real life. Once you gain love for who and what you are, life doesn't change dramatically. So what is different? Well, you'll wear what you want without first asking "am I too old...too big...or trying to hard to wear this?" you'll walk out the door with a bare skin, you won't have to constantly hide behind a mask of "I'm fine". When you look at them on paper they don't appear to be huge mile stones with Wreck it Ralph meddle's waiting for you at the end and to some people they might think like this all the time. However, to those of us who have felt that self hate for our bodies, felt lost with inside our own minds they are glitter shit! I have worked with women who have gone from not being able to leave their house to strolling into town riding solo girl! To me that's an absolute rock star.
So if you find self love, or when I should say, and you get to the end don't feel deflated, don't forget what it's like to truly fear what you see in the mirror. Don't forget that what you now find is your new normal was once a distant dream. Now, for those of you who do have that distant dream there is a formula to self love, it's not easy but it is simple, it does not need over complicating and to me it looks a little like this... Self care + self discovery + self confidence = self love It may take you a few weeks, a few months or maybe even years but you'll learn so much on your journey and really everyday is a school day. The school of life teaches us many things as we experience it day to day, but sometimes we need to do more, to search ourselves for those lessons.
